I know, I know, it has been a long time since I've posted. I just really haven't felt like it much. I have been ultra busy at work trying to get a promotion and when I come home I don't want to even look at a computer. Lately there are some things that have been irking me, most of them political. The other day I read a news article about a high school student who is suing his art teacher. The reason: she gave him a zero on an art project that had a picture of a cross and a reference to John 3:16. She claims that religious art is not allowed in the classroom even though he fulfilled the assignment by drawing a landscape. She also claims that since the students are supposed to sign a policy form at the beginning of the year she is not violating any of his rights; he gave up those rights when he signed the policy. The drawing wasn't a big deal until the teacher claimed that other students were offended by the drawing. How many high school students do you know that would be offended by a drawn cross? Really, is this teacher serious? Most high school students could care less about a drawing. My guess is that she found it offensive and pulled out the unconstitutional policy. Ummm....last time I checked I think the constitution actually trumps her little written policy. The student also says in the law suit that there are religious works of art all over the school and it his right to express his religious beliefs. And back to the clueless high school students who don't care about drawings and what they mean...they don't actually learn to "think" for themselves until they are in college. Then at that point they are taught that they are to be tolerate...unless they have to tolerate Christianity, in that case they are to be intolerant. I hate this double standard of liberalism.
Another thing that has really been really frustrating me is the elections. I don't like any of the candidates and I've kind of reached a moral dilemma. I know whole heartily that I will NOT vote for either of the two democratic candidates for obvious reasons...they are communists in socialists clothing. However the republican candidate is not much better. Of late I have heard some disturbing things come out in the conservative media about McCain. One of them is telling an Army Chaplain to water down his prayers and not end them in the name of Jesus. When the Army Chaplain didn't do this he was court-martialed and there was no support from McCain or his office when it was sought out. Recently I was reading 1 Corinthians 3:10-23, this is where Paul talks about the Judgement of Believers after the tribulation. Verse 17 has stuck in my mind "If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy and this what you are." My good friend Chuck Ryrie puts it this way, "If any man contributes to the collapse a local church he will be severely disciplined by God." Now in light of what I have heard about McCain I don't know how I can vote for him because if a local church were to collapse because he was trying to appease those on the left I contributed to being in office. However, he is the lesser of two evils and certainly do NOT want Hilary or Obama in office. I also feel it is my duty as an American and Christian to vote for the leader of our nation. I wonder if Ralph Nader has any religious suppression on his record....
